Carine Van Gerven

Carine Van Gerven works with photography as an expanded medium, often integrating installation, light and spatial presentation. Her practice moves between still life, constructed imagery and photographic installation, with a strong focus on structure, containment and perception. With a background in monumental painting and art education, she approaches photography as a material and spatial language rather than a purely narrative one.

Her work has been exhibited internationally in Belgium, France, Serbia and the Netherlands, and has received multiple international awards and distinctions. Alongside her artistic practice, she is active as curator and jury member within the international photography field.
