Contained / Uncontained is a photographic installation composed of eight still lifes. Seven works are presented as identical, enclosed units. Each image is placed on a pedestal and covered by a transparent plexiglass box. An external light source illuminates the objects, reinforcing the separation between image, space, and light.
Although the seven works share the same format and presentation, each still life maintains its own chromatic identity and internal balance. Subtle variations in colour, composition, and tension distinguish the images from one another within an otherwise strict structure.
The eighth work disrupts this order. Larger in scale and left uncontained, it opens the installation both visually and spatially. Here, light emerges from within the image itself, and the full spectrum of colour converges. Rather than enclosing the work, the image radiates outward, altering the rhythm and dynamics of the space.
The installation unfolds as a sequence. Moving between repetition and variation, containment and openness, the viewer becomes increasingly aware of shifts in perception. Meaning does not reside in a single image, but emerges through the relationships between the works.Contained / Uncontained examines how boundaries, light, scale, and spatial arrangement shape the experience of images — not as isolated representations, but as physical presences within a shared environment.
